Quality control is of great importance for reliable immunohistology. This can be only achieved by intensive work with a great number of control sets which include reagents as well as tissue preparations, otherwise artefacts (so-called false positive and false negative staining reactions) have to be expected. Some major problems are listed in tables which may be helpful in troubleshooting.
